I made these gluten free Trix treats for my daughters school birthday snack and they were a hit. Super easy to assemble, they look amazing, and of course the taste is kid approved!
I recommend that you make these on the stove, rather than using the microwave. I have tried both ways and the consistency is much better melted in a large saucepan on the stove. I also found a great tip online that if you wet your hands, the marshmallow mixture won’t stick to them when you are pushing the mixture into place.
- 2-8 tbsp organic butter (the more butter the richer and sweeter the bars – I don’t use the full amount)
- 1 bag of mini marshmallows
- 1 box of TRIX cereal
On the stove melt the butter in large saucepan over low heat. When melted add the marshmallows and stir continually until fully melted. Slowly add the bag of Trix cereal and stir until fully incorporated.
Pour mixture onto a parchment paper covered jelly roll pan. Wet hand and use fingers to push mixture into place. If hands become sticky, wet again and continue until mixture is pressed and spread out over the entire pan.
Let sit until fully cooled and then cut into large squares.
